Ten acres, over twenty garden styles, and the only surviving Elizabethan cloister garden in the country. A garden lost in time, and dug back out of it.

The gardens
From the historic Cloister Garden to the productive Kitchen Garden and the Ninfarium, a subtropical garden under glass in the ruined rooms of the mansion.

The bloom calendar · March
In the Alpinum, the Ninfarium, the Stream Garden, the Sunken Garden. Their calendar runs month by month and names both what is in flower and the garden to walk to for it.

The tearooms
Homemade lunches and a quintessential afternoon tea, £20 a head, with the fruit and vegetables from the Kitchen Garden wherever they can. Open 10.30am to 4.30pm; the terrace is a real suntrap.

Weddings
A grade II* listed mansion with rooms licensed for ceremonies, the main hall for up to a hundred, the Ninfarium for ten, and the gardens and the woodland licensed too.

Daily entry
Gardens 10am to 6pm
Adult £15.50. Members, children up to sixteen and carers go free. The shop and plant sales are free to visit with no ticket needed, and there is a large free coach park for groups.
Membership
Unlimited entry across the seasons
Individual membership is £73 by direct debit, or £78 by card. Members use the tearooms as often as they wish.
Stay
Two cottages, grade II listed, sleeping four each
Gardener's Cottage was once part of the home farm; Coachman's Cottage was the coach house, its carriage entrance now a window. Guests get free entry to the gardens for the length of the stay.

Thursdays
Doggy Days are every Thursday. Only service dogs are permitted on other days.
Art and craft exhibitions run from spring to autumn, alongside fairs, festivals and workshops through the year: the Late Summer Fair, the Welsh Orchid Festival, music on the lawn.
A fully restored Elizabethan Cloister Garden, the only surviving example of its kind in the UK today.
