The twelve gardens

  • The AlpinumOnce a pond that dried out each summer, turned over in 2007 to dwarf plants: Japanese holly, a green column yew, thyme azalea, double flowered colchicum. The limestone path came from a local quarry and carries fossil invertebrates.

  • Cloister GardenElizabethan, fully restored, and the only surviving example of its kind in the UK today.
  • Kitchen GardenThe tearooms take their fruit and vegetables from here wherever they can.
  • NinfariumA subtropical garden under glass, in the ruined rooms of the mansion. Licensed for ceremonies of up to ten.
  • The North Lawn & Yew Tunnel
  • Rose Garden
  • Rose Wall
  • Stream Garden
  • The Sunken Garden
  • Upper Walled Garden
